Week 13: that messy stage
I’m working on GovTech Barbados, where we’re helping the CEO define what GovTech is. He’s a team of one, so we have a specific challenge around who’s going to do all the work.
This is a bumper two-week weeknote.
Last week, we spent a lot of time trying to work out how we could do everything that’s being asked of GovTech. That ended in the realisation that we don’t have the knowledge to answer some of these questions yet, and we’re making a lot of assumptions. But I did sketch out what GovTech might need to look like to do this work.
This week has been about getting down to what we’re here to do, which will help us answer those questions. That’s looked like this:
- a stakeholder mapping workshop
- listing all the priorities, and the things that have been promised to people, so we can start to understand how and if they should go in the roadmap for GovTech
- helping the CEO define the why for GovTech
- being pleasantly surprised by a colleague’s take on the homepage for GOV.BB
- and then a show the thing
We’re in that messy stage where everything is happening at once. I’m super conscious that this stage can be disorienting for clients, so I’m managing that carefully.
Outside of work, I’ve restarted French lessons and went skiing last weekend. This week, it’s started to feel like summer in the Alps, which is a little too soon for my liking.
