Week 39: start page, questions, check your answers

27 September 2024

I’m working on an exemplar service for Ontario One Call: sharing locate requests.

This week, the team is running the second round of user research with the prototype.

I had a call with a content designer from Kainos, based in the UK, who was a breath of fresh air! We spent about 10 minutes chatting about what we’ve tried to do with One Call and how content design fits into that, and they understood right away. It was refreshing to explain the service as a start page, some question pages, a check your answers page and a submit page, and for someone to immediately get what I was talking about.

We had a long-overdue call with our main client at One Call. Brilliantly, he wants to get started on around six initiatives in the backlog and to build an internal development team, something I’ve wanted them to move towards for a long time.

I spent time planning a low-level, actionable intro to measuring things with Google Analytics, because One Call didn’t have it on their website. I then embarrassingly found out that someone had already added it. Oh well, I don’t mind looking a little silly as long as the job gets done.

Cabin: privacy-first, carbon-conscious web analytics.
