Week 23: even when it is not in our best interest
We tell our clients what they need to hear, even if it’s not necessarily good news, or news they want to hear. Even when it’s not in our best interest to tell them. We believe our clients benefit from openness and candour.
“Even when it’s not in our best interest.” Those few words set Public Digital apart. It’s one of the things I like about the work here, and this week has been a reminder of why it matters.
The rest of the week was spent wrapping up the final presentation for the client and making a few versions for different audiences. I’ve written a script for our main client, the Chief Digital Officer, to help him pitch the roadmap to the ministry. Next week, we’re going to have a dry run where he presents it back to us.
We’ve offered a final call with the executive team, pitched as an “Ask Me (Us) Anything” session. That will help them solidify the next steps.
It’s an odd time in my engagement as a network member. Things are drawing to a close, and there’s not much certainty about what’s next. I’m trying not to overthink it too much.
Outside the engagement, I had an interesting call with a few people about burnout and tech companies, which left me with many questions and an outline for a blog post.
And then… about two months after I broke my leg, I went for a short run, which felt odd, and yesterday I got back up into the high mountains for a walk with my girlfriend.
