Week 32: lagom
There’s a Swedish word I love: lagom. It means just the right amount, not too much, not too little. That’s how I feel about Barbados right now. We’re leaving at the right time. We’ve built an organisation from the ground up. Now they need to find what works for them.
GovTech Barbados has been a testing ground for new, AI-era ways of working, and for actually doing this work. I’ve learnt loads about what’s possible. People are still the hardest part.
It has been incredibly hard. But I’m proud of what we’ve achieved.
I’m lucky to have worked with such a supportive, friendly, capable team from Public Digital: Adunni, Blessing, Amoge, Abisola, Nic, Amy and Jack, and everyone else who’s supported from the sidelines. Thank you all.
Now I’m off up a mountain for a few weeks to rest and recover.
